Defensible Space
Creating defensible space around your home is critical. This means:
- Reducing pine needles, pinecones, and broken branches
- Removing flammable vegetation within recommended zones
- Home hardening — structural improvements to increase fire resistance
- Fire-resistant landscaping with strategic vegetation management
Free Services
North Tahoe Fire Protection District offers:
- Free defensible space inspections
- Chipping service for branches under 6" (June–October rotations)
Green Waste Disposal
- Memorial Day Weekend dumpsters (Juniper Mountain & Alpine Meadows Estates)
- Year-round Eastern Regional Landfill (May 1–October 31)
